day one is a very good journal. a decade of polish, photos, long entries, sync across every device, a subscription to pay for all that. if you write pages, it is hard to beat.

most people who go looking for an alternative aren't leaving because it is bad. they are leaving because they stopped writing in it. the blank page is the problem, and a better blank page doesn't fix it.

what vapor does instead

one word a day. an optional line. thirty seconds. no account, so there is nothing to sign into and nothing to cancel. the journal stays on your phone; the only things that ever leave are the ones you deliberately send, sealed or end-to-end encrypted. the daily word is free for good. premium is optional and is about looking back, not about unlocking the journal.
